Provisional version. This text is not yet the final, validated version: passages still to be completed are highlighted. It will be replaced before the app is published.

Umare is an original work: illustrations, portraits, scenes, globe, particles and animations are procedural pixel art written for the app; sounds and ambiences are synthesized by code, with no third-party samples; the texts, events, first names and game rules are original creations. Nothing is copied from another game or site. What comes from elsewhere is listed below.

Data

The World Bank — World Development Indicators (population, life expectancy, urbanization, fertility, GDP per capita at purchasing power parity, Gini index, secondary school enrollment). License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ · dataset: https://datacatalog.worldbank.org/search/dataset/0037712. Changes: for each country, the latest available value was selected, rounded and combined with game rules (wealth tiers, probabilities); these derivatives are not published by the World Bank, which does not endorse this application. These indicators are themselves produced by third parties (notably the UN Population Division, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the World Bank Poverty and Inequality Platform); the latest year available for each country is given in the data.

Natural Earth — public-domain vector map data (https://www.naturalearthdata.com/), used for the globe's land/sea mask and city lights. No attribution is required; it is given as a courtesy.

Birthplace coordinates: facts (latitude, longitude) taken from Wikipedia; no article text is reused.

What is NOT observed: wealth tiers, event probabilities, character names, representative cities and all texts are game rules or original creations. They illustrate realistic orders of magnitude, not individual destinies.

Fonts

License text: https://openfontlicense.org/open-font-license-official-text/ (also in the app).

Inspiration

Deep-Fold / PixelPlanets (MIT license, © 2020 Deep-Fold): technical inspiration for the pixel-art globe rendering. No code, shader, palette or asset was copied; the rendering is an original reimplementation. Credit given as a courtesy.

Icons

Material Design icons (© Google): the upstream repository is under the Apache 2.0 license; the license file shipped with the font in the Flutter SDK is the "Creative Commons Attribution 4.0" text. As a precaution, attribution to Google is given here and in the app. [TO BE REVIEWED: Apache-2.0 / CC BY 4.0 ambiguity; option to replace these icons with in-house pictograms.]

Open-source software and SDKs
